The firm’s history can be traced to 1991, when Philip Paul founded Paul Capital Partners to acquire 42 venture capital and leveraged buyout fund positions from the Hillman Company, his former employer. This pioneering acquisition of illiquid assets helped to institutionalize the secondary private equity market. In 2011, Phil co-founded Top Tier Capital Partners as a spin out from Paul Capital.
Phil retired from the Investment Team at the end of 2014, but remains an advisor to the firm through his role as Chairman Emeritus of Top Tier Capital Partners.
“Investment fads come and go. But one constant in this industry is fundamental innovation that disrupts established industries and creates new wealth. That’s why at Top Tier, we are committed to venture capital for the long term.”
